The Buckle of Isis upon which this card is based, was a carving that was said to represent a womb. It does rather look like one. And the emotions and concepts that are attached to it convey the same meaning.
It suggests growth and abundance in anything – investments, family, money, business. But it also acknowledges that with such abundance, there is typically a price to pay. Be it in energy, or time missed with loved ones or health problems due to overwork. It means that you can’t get to what you want without putting in some effort. And bear in mind that it might be quite a significant amount of effort, depending on what it is that you desire.
It does also, however, suggest fidelity and loyalty in relationships. And in this case, your relationship with yourself.
This is another card that may indicate the need for a passage of time in order to see progress. We plant the seed (physical, mental, spiritual or emotional), we care for the seed, we give it the environmental factors it needs to grow strong and healthy. And then we benefit from the harvest. As an aside, this is a very helpful card for pregnancy. Just so long as the mother-to-be is aware of the changes that this new life will bring.
It’s appearance here indicates that you know a connection exists between desire and action. And that you already know that with growth there will be some sort of sacrifice. In order to achieve, energy will need to be expended. In this case, it’s likely to be letting go of stories that you have been told and then told yourself in order to keep the status quo.
